Why
save space when disks are so cheap? It's
not about the disk space. It's about service times, backup times and contingency,
helpdesk questions, restore requests, PST corruption etc. If
you are using Exchange/Outlook, you know personal folders (PST's) are a
nightmare. Of
course you should try to avoid PST files. Question is how and when.
The
PST nightmare:
PST
files over 1 GB are more a rule than an exception. Resulting
in slower and even corrupted emails. Personal Folders are well known but
not everybody knows
that every Personal Folder uses it's own private PST data store. Once users
have found out how
to archive messages and attachments to separate personal folders, hell breaks
loose.
Suddenly
it looks like a true PST explosion.
The
PST solutions:
The
best way of stopping the PST madness is to prevent them from being created. However,
the transition to a PST-less network can not be done overnight and will
hardly get priority. PSTCompress
is the cheapest way to manage PST file compression. Starting a PST compact for
every individual PST file is almost impossible. PSTCompress is the safe
solution that adds a
flexible scheduling mechanism to the whole PST compacting mechanism. PSTCompress
automatically fires of a job at the desired time and stops when you want
it to stop. This
can be done in the weekend or whenever you like. No intervention needed! Additionally,
PSTCompress lets you configure the way you want to compact the PST's. You
can start a PST compact manually or by using a schedule. You
can decide to empty the deleted items, clean out the sent items or even
zip attachments prior to
starting the PST compact exercise. Customers
have come back to us with a 80% decrease of the PST files!
Too
good to be true?
Not
really and we'll prove it. PSTCompress is out now and available for a test
drive!
